A Few Of My Favorite Things
Once again, I've been suffering from a bit of Writer's Block (perhaps more accurately described as "Writer's Chip.") As a fallback, I was considering doing a list of things that make me happy. And then today I discovered (through doing research while trying to come up with trivia questions for my kids online book club) that August is Happiness Happens Month.
So the Blogging Deities are clearly directing me to share with you, dear readers, the small pleasure of life that I am currently grateful for:
So the Blogging Deities are clearly directing me to share with you, dear readers, the small pleasure of life that I am currently grateful for:
- Halo Top ice cream: Ironically, I tried this after listening to my friend Carissa detail how much she hated it. Perhaps since I’m not an ice cream connoisseur, I enjoy it. It may not hold up to “real” ice cream but it tastes real to me and it’s high in protein (which is potentially good for marathon training) and low in calorie which leaves more room for booze calories. (Only food/consumption item on the list, I promise, as this post could so easily be all about food).
- Feriar Hair Dye #74: My new hair color which I discovered two treatments ago. I was hoping for a red color that was a little lighter and more coppery without being orange and I think I’ve succeeded.
- Clearance lingerie from Target.
- My Loot Wear for Her monthly delivery: it’s a monthly grab bag for geeks. Chad got me a subscription for my birthday after I got him a Loot Crate subscription for his birthday. So far my loot has included a Beauty and the Beast wrap, a Batman purse, and a Groot racerback tee. Every delivery day is like Christmas.
- My LED light up drum sticks:
- Getting checked out by a cashier who DOESN’T look at one of my grocery items and ask, “Is that good?” Of course I think it’s good or I wouldn’t buy it! Okay, sorry, this is a bit of a hate in reverse.
- Discovering that I already own the vinyl of “Wings Over America” by Paul McCartney and Wings. Okay, it’s a little scratched, but I don’t remember acquiring this so it’s a present from my past self.
- No longer getting blisters on my feet from running, even though I’m running longer and more than before when I used to get blisters, and I haven’t changed my socks or shoes. . Mysterious but very welcomed…I even still have all my toenails.
- Bourbon and Cedar soap. Yeah, I know it’s for the guys.
- Getting tickets to see Chris Hardwick at Acme at the end of September…okay, I’m devastated that “@ Midnight” got cancelled, but I’m trying to focus on the positive.
- Watching my niece and my nephew’s girlfriend geeking out over the book “Hidden Headlines of Wisconsin: Strange, Unusual, & Bizarre Newspaper Stories 1860-1910”: This might become a family classic like “Wisconsin Death Trip.”
- Highlighting my lines in a script.
- The Slim Jim commercial where Grandma tells her grandson’s friend that “she’s” probably never said “that’s too big” to him.
- Watching our dogs run in their sleep.
- Blogging (of course).
